 TASK-1 Rename a VMFS Datastore
 



Select the Datastore and right click on it and rename it as Local1-1 
 
Repeat the same Steps to the other Datastore and give the name Local02-1
 
Click OK 
 
 
 

 
 Right Click on the Data Center Select Storage  then Select New Data center


 

 
 
From the Window Select VMFS Data store

Click Next





In Names and Devise Selection enter the Details Below
 
DataStore Name -: VMFS-2
 
Select Host to view its accessible disks/LUNs -: Your first HOST 

From the List below Select the correct Disk for host 1
 
 
Click Next
 
 
 

 
 

 
 In this window Select VMFS 6
 
 
Click Next
 
 
 

 
In this Window we can change the Data store Size change the size that you prefer.
 
Click Next
 
 
 

 
 
 The last page is about the details summary about our data store that we configure
 
 
Click Finish
 
 



 
Repeat the Same steps for the Second host as well and Create  VMFS-3 for the Second Host
After creating the Two store it should be as in the above Image.



 
 TASK-3 Expand a VMFS Datstore to Consume Unused space on a LUN
 
 
 




 
 Right click on VMFS-2 datstore and select Increase Datastore Capacity.
 
 


 
 Select the Disk
 
 Click Next
 
 

 
 
In this Window we will be able to confgure the partions size. Use the Free space  to Expand the Data store (Use the Drop down Menu)
 
 
 Click Next
 
 




 In the Last window is about the Summary about the configurations
 
 Click Finish
 
 
 

 
 
Use the Summary Tab in the Right side to view the Details.In my case Initially it was 2.75  and after increasing the space it it has the space of  39.75GB
 
 
 
 
 
 TASK-4 Remove a VMFS datastore.
 
 

 
 

Select the Data Store From Left panel and right click on VMFS-3 datstore and select delete data store 
 
 
Confirm the deletion by clicking OK

 
 



 After deleting the Store wont be able to see in the Inventory
 
 
 
 TASK-5 Extend a VMFS Datastore.
 
 
 

 
Select the VMFS-2  Data store and from the Left side Select Configuration tab and Under that tab Select Increase.

 
 





 In here Select a LUN

 Click Next
 
 
 




 
 
 In thgis Window Select Use the Free space


 Click Next
 
 

 
Next Step is Device Backing Window Select the Drive that have Total capacity of 39.87 GB
 
 



 
Select the Host Tab from the left side menu check that whether the bot of of the Host are connected 
 
 
 





Change the VMFS-2  name to VMFS Shared by right clicking on VMFS-2
 
Click OK 




TASK-6 Create a second VMFS Datastore using iSCSI.
 
 
 



 
 
 Select the Data Center and Right Click on it the select Storage under storage New Database 




Select VMFS datastore type

Click Next
 



 
Select a version 6
 
Click Next
 




Give the Data Center name as Shared-iSCSI-Datastore

Click Next

 
 

 
 Select use all available space partition from the drop down menu.
 
Click Next
 
In the last page it will give the summary if the details 
 
Click Finish to complete the process .
 
 
 
 
 

Critical Thinking 

In this lab we will creating and Rename the VMFS datastore and expand it Volume. I have created VMFS datastore for the ESXI host as well. In the last steps I have removed the VMFS store and used shared VMFS datastore using iSCSI.
