COBIT5 VS ITIL
Part of assignment we have deiced to move the existing system to the cloud (AWS). In this project my choose of Management framework was COBIT5.
Why COBIT5
Controls and Assurance in the Cloud using COBIT 5, offers detailed process practices and a governance structure to use when performing an evaluation of cloud infrastructure,including its related security risk. The use of a validated framework will allow an organization to understand the anticipated benefits of Cloud. COBIT5 has developed to be IT governance and management structure. It Stretching out decision to broaden its usage to cloud governance, since COBIT 5 is scalable and allows for developments.

COBIT 5 Address corporate IT administration and management over the whole life cycle of the programmed. COBIT 5, with the use of seven integrated enablers [Figure1], guarantees structured governance and management. These are the factor that individual and social effect on whether anything succeeds.

Different Between COBIT 5 and ITIL
COBIT’s Objectives
"COBIT’s ultimate
objective is to align IT goals with business goals, leveraging IT’s value for
the good of the organization, and ultimately resulting in higher profits. COBIT
also seeks to efficiently manage risks, resources, and the IT department (COBIT vs. ITIL, 2020)."
ITIL’s Objectives
" ITIL strives to organize IT services company-wide, as well as the
IT department’s workload. It also attempts to create an environment conducive
to continuously oversee the processes to ensure constant operational perfection
(COBIT vs. ITIL, 2020)."
Comparing the Objectives of COBIT and ITIL COBIT have the
Objective of " COBIT’s ultimate objective is to
align IT goals with business goals, leveraging IT’s value for the good of the
organization, and ultimately resulting in higher profits."
where a ITIL has only to support the IT department work load. Main thing should
consider is When selecting a Framework, it should benefit both not only the IT.
Moreover, The move that travel agency is taking is a big move for their future
business so IT should not be maily focus on IT development only like ITIL.
COBIT5 is all about managing and controlling the IT and Business according to
the 2019 COBIT5 factors It think about the Compliance requirement ,Role of IT ,
IT implementation methods, Technology adoption ,enterprise size, Enterprise
goal ,Threats and IT issues etc... By using these business can achieve their
goal with very less percentage of risks.
In our Project to migrate the System in to the Cloud the Framework we are using is COBIT 5.
COBIT 5 have update in 2019 and it has some update regarding Cybersecurity as well. By using COBIT5 to the project it will benefits the Company goals as well as IT team goals.By checking all the factors COBIT5 will have more update s as well. It will help to benefited the companies that use COBIT 5 framework.
COBIT 2019’s New/Updated Coverage Areas
Here are some highlighted of the areas of
new/updated coverage as:
- New processes for data, projects, and compliance (more on this in a
moment)
- Updates to cybersecurity and privacy
- Updated linkages to all relevant standards, guidelines, regulations, and
best practices (as already outlined above)
